Abstract Searching of workability, flow stresses, structural development and mechanical properties are effective by physical simulations. The plastometric tests are able to simulate material characteristics for discrete and continual hot metal forming processes. The experimental research was based on material workability, flow stresses, and structural development realised by torsion plastometer. Two steel material base were searched: electrotechnical alloy Si steel and low carbon construction steel. Four workability minimum were obtained in electrotechnical steel for deformation temperatures: 763°C, 995-1000°C, 1098°C, 1196°C. The equations for flow stress were derived from torsion tests. Equation for flow stress calculation in process rolling conditions of electrotechnical steel was derived, too. Point coordinates ?, ? on stress-strain curves of low carbon steel were calculated by Zener-Holloman parameter. Equation for dynamic recrystallization of austenitic grains and starting time for 95% portion of dynamic recrystasllization were derived, too.
