Abstract Non-control stock of dusts from foundries represent places of serious menace of environment. The dust from electric arc furnace (EAF) consists of melt products of oxidation, components of alloys and impurities of scrap, respectively fine-grained ingredients. Besides, they contain another metal oxides and that of zinc, lead, cadmium and in alloyed steels metal oxides of chrome, nickel, manganese, cobalt etc. Size of powder grains under 5 ?m is 80-90 %. Lye off from EAF fly-particles is considerably toxic due to high pH value and alkalinity. At surroundings of dumps come to changes of quality of surface and underground waters as well to contamination by dust with content of hazard elements, oxides and heavy metals. For this reason the dust waste from EAF has not to be exported on monotone dumps. Experimental works made at Department of Ferrous Metallurgy and Foundry included: determination of chemical, mineralogical and grain composition of dusts from melting aggregates of selected foundries in Slovak Republic. The results were applied to proposal of creating of pieces of material; production of pellets where various kinds of binding agents for providing their sufficient strength as well as addition of iron sawdust for increasing of iron content and their volume mass were tested; evaluation of qualitative parameters of pellets, mainly their grain, strength in pressure, shatter and abrasion resistance, and influence of the storing time on the mentioned parameters.
