Abstract The possibility of joining hard zinc refining appart iron by aluminium with ZnAl alloy preparation is shown. Refining lies in the iron binding from hard zinc by aluminium appart the intermetallic compound FeAl and FeAl3, respektively. These intermetallic compounds during melt holding time at constant temperature are floated of a melt surface. These are then mechanical eliminated by the strimmings strike off. Calculated Al content is then added to the refining melt so that it was enough as so alloying addition for preparing Zn-Al alloy as also for finale of prepared alloy refining appart iron which content shauld achieve under 0,1 %. Alloy preparation is in relationship with second refining phase by alloy directional solidification. Prepared ZnAl20 alloy is appropriete for hot pressing with higher corrosion resistence in comparison with the pure zinc. Acta Metallurgica Slovaca, 11, 2005, 1 (74 - 77) 74
