ON THE HEAVY FORGING FROM CONSTRUCTIONS STEELS
Abstract
The technology of die forging on opposed tup hammers of 400 kJ is used for the production of heavy die forgings weighing from 20 even up to 250 kg in ZTS Dubnica nad Váhom.
The article describes a forging line which was installed for the mass production of crank shafts having the weight of approx. 150 kg. In addition to mentioned crank shafts, at present this line is utilized for the manufacuture of several types of forgings for which there are some typical examples covered in this lecture.
The first section of this article describes individual technological devices of the forging line and their projecting layout.
The second section includes the analysis of technological possibilities of described workplace giving basic type technologies that can be employed there on the machines. This part of article provides information of various kinds of forging process applicable on this line starting from the most simple process for circular forgings from an upset semi-product in the single-impression die up to the forging process for the most intricated products that are produced from a shaped rough forging with using the process of preliminary forging.
The third section of this article covers the description of individual practical examples of die forging having been done on this line. One of examples presents the forging method of a crank shaft with the weight of 115 kg with a preliminary forging on the hammer. Furthermore, there is a technology published referring to forging the hydraulic hammer cylinders with the forging weight of 210 kg with preliminary forging process used. Next part of the article describes the forging process of a wheel hub weighing 50 kg that is forged from a smith forged blank. The last part of the article contains two technologies of die forging for products with a bent principle axis represented by forging a hook of 155 kg and a supporting fork of 80 kg for fork-lift trucks. The die forging of the hook is made from smith forged blank which is bent and die forged. The fork is made from a blank forged on horizontal forging machine and it is forged on the hammer in developed shape and then it is bent.
The effort of authors consists in informing the readers of opportunities how to utilize the existing technological equipment at big changes in the product assortment.
