WELDED-ON LAYERS METALLURGICAL ROLLS
Abstract
ZTS Dubnica belongs to traditional manufacturers of metallurgical tools. This article presents the experience in increasing the roller life for continual steel casting lines. It evaluates working conditions of rollers as well as dominant method of stress.
The roller body is made from low-alloyed creep-resisting steels which are reforged and heat treated for Rm 750 to 900 MPa.
The roller working surface is weld. The type of filler materials is selected according to a dominant stress method of the roller. There are the following alternative methods used for building-up by means of a gas shielded solid wire, gas shielded or own protection tubular type wire, TIG method, hot and cold wire and submerged-arc tubular type wire building-up.
Processes of submerged-arc welds with a strip electrode, electroslag welds and thermic spraying with a break-through are under preparation for the future use.
