REQUIREMENTS ON THE QUALITY OF COKE FOR THE MODERN IRONMAKING TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
The realized analysis of possible directions of the ironmaking development shows cleary the changes in metallurgic coke rates and necessity of its quality improvement. In present paper are shown the requirements on the quality of coke destined for the modern ironmaking technologies.
The NSC test of coke strenght after reaction with CO2 (CSR - CRI indices) realized in Czech and Slovak Republics is described. Variations of the utilized testing equipment from the Japan type are mentioned.Evaluation of results of the till now accomplished test series is described.
The most problematic topic of experimental testing proves to be the inadequate stability of qualitative parameters of coals utilized for coking. The mentioned unstability of coals properties makes also the rational optimation of coal mix prepaeing very dificult.
The basic methods of the metallurgical coke quality evaluation are proposed. Tests, simulating mainly the strains of coke by stresses in individual conditions of blast furnace ironmaking process are : in cold state (MICUM), after the reaction with CO2 (CSR-CRI), after reaction of coke ash with carbon (CSACR-ACRI) and during its circulation in raceways in front of the tuyeres(?).
