INFLUENCE OF SODIUM ACETATE ON THE MECHANOCHEMICAL SYNTHESIS OF PBS NANOPARTICLES
Abstract
Nanoparticles of sulphides with controlled particle morphology and size distribution can be prepared by chemical synthesis. By applying mechanical energy during the synthesis of nanoparticles also chemical reactions and phase transformations can be accomplished. This new strategy of mechanochemical synthesis of sulphide nanoparticles was verified in [10].
The present paper describes preparation of PbS nanocrystalline nanoparticles in a laboratory mill without and with addition of a soluble salt, in our case sodium acetate. The salt matrix can be removed by washing with watter. X-ray analysis, specific surface area measurement, granulometric analysis, UV-VIS spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used for characterization of microstructure and surface properties of mechanochemically synthesized PbS particles. Based on the above mentioned comparative study it can be established that by addition of sodium acetate the specific surface area and the average particle size of PbS are influenced. The SEM analysis confirmed higher homogeneity and a reducing agglomeration effect of PbS nanoparticles prepared by above mentioned method.
