ANALYSIS OF SLAG IN MOLD UNDER STANDARD CONDITIONS AND IN CASE OF STICKER TEMPERATURE ALARM OCCURENCE
Abstract
Continuous casting plays an important role in the final processing of steel. During this process casting powders are added directly to the mold at the last stage of continuous casting. Their right composition affects the whole casting process as well as quality of the produced steel. Slag formed from casting powder must have appropriate chemical and physical parameters. Slag viscosity is the key parameter with the largest effect on the casting itself. Low dynamic viscosity of slag will cause its high-speed pouring down the mold and, on the contrary, slag solidification will avoid lubrication of the mold. The control over these effects in the mold is exercised by the breakout prediction system.
