IMPROVING OF FORGING DIES LIFE
Abstract
The paper describes multiple technical solutions applied in production practice. It mentioned on the differences in approach to various methods of die life increasing. There is shown the concrete result from the monitoring of life of selected dies in the paper. The dies are working heated. The die life was monitoring in conditions of practice. The paper summarized conclusion of five technological solutions to improve forge die life. Each of solutions is specifical. There is important to complex consider of all factor entering in the process as a machine, forging and tool. Then is possible to select one of described solutions mainly affecting the die life as an expensive tool. The die life is generally affecting by right choice of the material. In this point of view the author suggest two solutions. One is targeted to selection of suitable material for chemical heat treatment of die. For this purpose was developed material applicable for heat working tool. The second solution counts with refining process by which is possible to product cleanest steel. Chemical heat treating of die was realized by nitriding. In the paper is presented the electro chemical treating of the forging die’s hollows. This technology is suitable to produce a forge with appreciate and complicate shape. Last technological solution of forging tool improving is to repair of forging hollow by facing of weared machines parts.
