FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR IN EQUAL CHANNEL ANGULAR ROLLING PROCESS
Abstract
Finite element method is very useful to analyse various forming and heat treatment processes used by metal forming and related industries. In this paper was made mathematical simulations by using finite element methods (FEM) in DeForm 3D software. Was simulated sample in Equal Channel Angular Rolling (ECAR) equipment. Material for simulation used Copper (Cu 99,99 %) sample in cross section, with different ECAR die angles and was evaluated behavior of sample, strain, strain rate, stress and temperature field. Sample form of Copper sample was trapezoid (7x6 mm). The effect of die angle ? and the friction between the die channels and the specimen on the stress and strain distribution, strain homogeneity, the feature of shear deformation and the torque was investigated. In the continuous ECAR, shear deformation exists in the die angle ranged from 90° to 120°. The effective strain is uniform in most parts of the workpiece. The result is that plastic deformation is descending with angle rising up.
